10-Digit Dialing for BC & Alberta Coming June 2008

10-Digit Dialing for BC & Alberta Coming June 2008

After September 8-12, 2008, you won’t be able to make 7-digit local calls, but will have to dial the area code in front of the 7-digit phone number.   To help customers prepare, the industry is phasing in a "permissive dialing period" from June 23-28, 2008. During that period, when you dial 7 digits for a local call you will hear a network announcement reminding you to use 10-digit dialing the next time you make a local call, and then your call will be connected. Please note that this does not apply to BC Lower Mainland customers as they are already dialing 10-digts.  Click here for additional details.

ADS and GoldFax, MyFax and GFI FaxMaker will not dial correctly once this network announcement is activated so we recommend that you switch to 10-digit dialing in early June.   Click here for more information on how to setup 10 digit ADS/PO faxing.

The 10-Digit Dialer Implementation package is $750.  It includes:

- Conversion to add area codes for BAS Vendor phone numbers.
- Conversion to add area codes for MAR Customer phone numbers.
- Conversion to add area codes for PRM Employee phone numbers.
- Conversion to add area codes for OPS Employee phone numbers.
- Extract and load of local prefixes into 10-Digit Dialer module.

Once active, long distance phone numbers will display a “L” at the end of the number.
Please contact Trish Holly at 604-826-2694 if you have questions or want to schedule this implementation.
