SESSION 01 ( 3 HRS)

GENERAL FEATURES REVIEW

  • How to contact us
  • TSC Website: Introduce client’s user name & password, Website Tour, Submit online service request
  • Identify Terminal Emulator. Log In/Out
  • General Features of the terminal emulator: FIND, SELECT, PF1-4, PF6, Screen-scroller, LOOK, Print Screen Banner, MAIN, QUIT.
  • Interactive time.

PAYROLL MENUS

  • Overview of the four main menus: Employee Maintenance, Generate Payroll, Payroll Maintenance, System Maintenance.
  • Emulator shortcuts: MAIN, QUIT
  • Review: Logging In/Out, general navigation and use of shortcuts, practice finding things on the Web
  • Interactive time.

TSC PAYROLL: GETTING FROM A TO Z

  • The Payroll Database: The Brain of TSC Payroll
  • Employee Maintenance: Add, Deletes, Modifies what the brain is setup to control
  • Generate Payroll: The arms and feet

SESSION 02 ( 3 HRS)

EMPLOYEE MAINTENANCE

  • Identify selections within the Employee Maintenance menu
  • Employee File Maintenance Menu
    • Detailed Analysis of Employee Record Additions, #1
    • Brief overview selections #2 - #20
    • Cautions (Employee Delete, Employee Purge)
    • FIND, PF1+A
    • Discuss the payroll system’s order of precedence (Database, Employee deduction screen, timesheet entry)
    • Interactive time. Make any necessary employee changes
  • Employee Reporting menu
    • Send client print shots of each report as a reference tool. Provide brief overview of reports.
    • Identify all reports that can be exported into excel
    • Demonstrate export/import

SESSION 03 (3 HRS)

GENERATE PAYROLL MENU: DATA ENTRY

  • Timesheet Entry Process: Setting up a Batch and executing timesheet entries
  • Variable Deduction Entry
  • Multiple Variable Deduction Entry
  • Timesheet/Variable Import Process
  • Practice Data entry
  • Brief overview of entire Data Entry menu

PAY ESTIMATE INQUIRY

  • Detailed overview & analysis
  • Process Scenarios with various data-entry types
  • Demo Projections
  • Interactive time where client can test multiple scenarios

SESSION 04 ( 3 HRS)

PAYROLL CALENDAR

  • Detailed overview & analysis
  • Relation of the Payroll Calendar to the Employee
  • How to check for jobs for completion/status
  • Checking successfully completed jobs in payroll archiving and unsuccessful jobs using LOOK
  • Data entry cont. if necessary
    PAYROLL STREAM
  • Verify all data has been entered and finalize applicable batches.
  • Brief overview of the payroll stream
  • Identify what the payroll system is doing during each stage of the process and how to check for successful completion. Identify what to do if a process is unsuccessful.
  • Review payroll reports for accuracy. Great place to verify all payroll data has been entered
  • Balancing, EFT to the Bank
  • Print Earnings Statements
  • Importance of not processing the payroll update until a backup has occurred.

PAYROLL UPDATE & REPORTS

  • How to Verify nightly backup
  • Detailed overview and analysis of the payroll update process and flow into Finance. Importance of determining which GL interface format should be used.\

  • Organize Payroll Year/Scheduling
  • Procedure Documentation

DATABASE & PROFILES

  • General Overview
  • Link the Database to the Employee Maintenance & Payroll (process flow). Fill in the blanks
  • Overview of Profiles: identify mandatory deductions & storage banks
