New Year End Ruling - Saskatchewan Customers

New Year End Ruling - Saskatchewan Customers

Saskatchewan has made a ruling to change their year end from December 2006 to August 2006. This will mean that for this year, there will be only 8 accounting periods.

IMPACT TO BAS USERS

The impact is minimal. You are currently in accounting period 200607 and will continue forward until the end of August 200608.

  1. Either delete the calendars for periods 200609-200612 or deny access to them.
  2. Setup your new accounting periods 200701-200712 with 200701 starting on Sept 1st and being the first accounting period in the new year.
  3. Run the Year End Processing (4,1,5,2) at the end of August to get the balance forward entries in the new year.
  4. Final steps are to run the Create New Chart of Accounts (4,1,5,1) and update the BAS Master Profile (8,7,1) with the new first period and new fiscal year.

IMPACT TO PAYROLL USERS

It will be critical that you review the payroll calendars setup for Sept-Dec.

  1. Setup the accounting period on these calendars to reflect the new accounting periods 701-Sept, 702-Oct, 703-Nov and 704 Dec.
  2. Set the BAS Fiscal Year in the OPS Master Profile (4,1,1) to be 2007.
  3. Do NOT run any accounting related year end procedures unless you want to zero out the fiscal earnings by running Zero Employee Earnings/Deductions (3,4,1). Please note, most sites do not use the fiscal earnings under payroll so this step would not be necessary.
